The capital and largest city in the southern Indian state of Karnataka is Bangalore, also known as Bengaluru. Kempegowda International Airport, situated in Devanahalli and approximately 40 kilometers from the city center, serves Bangalore. The GVK Group is the private operator of the airport, which was formerly known as Bangalore International Airport and began operations on May 24, 2008. The HAL Airport, located in the eastern residential neighborhood of Vimanapura, used to service the city. The city is facing particular challenges as a result of the expansion of the IT industry. The state government, whose voters are mostly from rural Karnataka, and the city’s IT tycoons, who wish to upgrade the city’s infrastructure, sometimes disagree on ideological issues.
